We rescue pianos and put them on the street for everybody to enjoy. We want to give pianists more opportunities to play for the public.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

This piano is my Cinderella. It came to me with scuffs and scratches all over it, with crayon and marker all over the keys. It had clearly been put to real work once. Now it's seeing its day again, but dressed up in the finery befitting such a magical instrument. Ever since I can remember, I've had a passion for fairy tales, history, and antiques. So, I put a little of all of the above into this piano with bright gold rococo-inspired details on a dark, dusty blue to shine like stars in the midnight sky.

Namesake Musician:
AMY BEACH

Known as the first female composer to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra (her “Gaelic” Symphony, premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1896), she was also one of the first U.S. composers to have her music be recognized in Europe, and THE first classical U.S. composer to achieve success without the benefit of European study.
